In the exclusive enclave of Seminyak, at the point in the road where it gets very exclusive, lies a narrow entrance that leads up to a quiet, guarded drive.
At the end of this road, past manicured gardens and intriguing doors, lies a quiet villa in as private an enclave as you can get.
Villa Shinta Dewi is finely tuned experience where hospitality is provided at the highest levels, and comfort is built in the very aspect.
Let's start with the physical structure so you can understand how you would live! Everything is arranged around a central pool (which is served by a cascading waterfall) so you have the master suite on the left comprising the bedroom, bathroom - including outside shower, and a cozy study with a well-equipped desk (and an enormous flat screen TV discreetly hidden). Straight ahead is the guest suite with a double bedroom above - all en suite. There is a small, separate living area here for convenience and comfort
On the right is the kitchen and dining area with a beautiful sitting area on the rooftop balcony, complete with hi-fi sound. What have forgotten-oh-yes-the gym, tucked away in the corner next to the pool, is ready for the exercise-conscious guests, day or night.
Furnishings and fittings are to the highest standards, with tasteful decorative art, ceramics and sculpture all around. Beds are soft and comfortable, bathroom amenities included and anything you could expect in a five star hotel you can find here.
But this only the hardware. The software is equally good.
The 'software' consists of a team of household staff who cooks, cleans and serves to your smallest wish under the able supervision of Manager Nong.
Drinks are made with cocktail bar skills: martinis, margaritas, and all the rest are al mixed and served with care. Dinner is prepared and served to the highest standards. Breakfast will start your day with satisfaction. It's all well orchestrated and well organized. And if there's anything special you want, they can handle that too.
We decided to entertain some close business colleagues one night and threw the challenge to Nong and her team. "We'd like a sumptuous Balinese meal, served with chilled white wine, cocktails before on the balcony and entertainment after dinner". "No problem, Sir," came the answer.
And so a magical night of conversation, drinks, good food and real Balinese entertainment started. A small gamelan group assembled by the lawn. A group of beautiful young dancers enchanted us.
A masked "old man" dancer came and interacted with the guests. The atmosphere changed from modern Seminyak to rural village through the talented dancers and musicians, and all were transported from daily life to mystical Bali.
It was a night to remember in a villa which could do no wrong. Highly recommended for a family holiday or a business trip with colleagues, Villa Shinta Dewi encompasses all the comforts you would expect and is only a walking distance from the major Seminyak attractions like Hu'U Bar, The Living Room, Ku De Ta and the Oberoi Hotel, then just up the "East Street" to Chandi, Kaizan, Ultimo and the rest. A fact that with ever increasing traffic in Bali becomes very important!
